It is New Years Eve and you find yourself sitting at a restaurant on Bourbon St. in New Orleans. You have been chugging down cup after cup of root beer for the last hour, stuffing your face with fried finger foods; eating the depressed loneliness away.

It is only a few minutes before the ball drops. The T.V. is turned to a news channel, with the party in New York airing. The atmosphere in the restaurant is electric with many cheerful couples and friends. You set your 7th frog leg bone down, licking your lips of the grease. While not as cheerful as you would be had you been with all your friends, this is still one of the better days you’ve had in the last few months.

As the time counts down to midnight, everyone begins to gather near one of the many large screen T.V.s. You follow suite and join in on the count down.

Smooch.

You’re taken aback as some random girl in the crowd grabs your face and kisses you. She turns and gives others kisses too. You smirk as the cheers and clinking glasses flood the room. You brush your arm as your face flushes and you go back to your seat.

Hopefully 2013 will be a better year for you. Hopefully you’ll rejoin with friends whom you’ve missed dearly.

What do you mean be John 11 hours ago? It’s only 1 pm.

As it stands, you are currently currently sitting in your cell waiting to be taken the the county courthouse. You are scheduled to be taken out to the police van at 1:15, your trial to start at 2:30. The plan your lawyer and you have is to plead temporary insanity and hope for a reduced sentence. You personally expect the jury of peers to find you guilty and worthy of the death penalty.

Little do you know, you have friends with connections. Specifically a friend. A friend who has become aware of your predicament and has already pulled strings to help you out.

1:15 pulls around and your escort of police officers arrives at your cell. The shackle you up with cuffs and walk you out to the van. They sit you down, start the van and begin to pull out of the county jail parking lot.

“So… Heh. Where’d you like to go, ‘Thor’?” That’s the name they gave you after learning the details of your crime.

“Pfff. Anywhere but here.” You casually respond, believing it to just be banter. You fully expect the next few weeks to lead to your justified execution.

“If you could pick anywhere, where’d it be? Like, if you could be moving instead of going to trial.” The officer says, trying to sound casual.

“If I had to choose, I’d probably say…” You pause trying to think of some place.

“And I said move. You wouldn’t be going on some damned vacation… In this uh… Hypothetical situation.” You raise an eyebrow at his wording but brush it off.

“Screw it, let’s move to New Orleans. Last I knew, I had a friend down there. Dunno if he’s still there or not, but since this is all hypothetical and all, it doesn’t really matter.” You ramble for a bit.

“Not a bad choice.” The officer says before going quiet. He drives on, right past the road leading to the courthouse. You begin to tell him he missed his turn when the other officers glare at you. You stop talking and sit quietly.

You become convinced that the officers are going to drive you to some remote place and make sure you don’t get off on any lesser charges. You start to fidget in your seat then stop when you notice you’ve arrived at a small air port.

The van pulls to a stop and the officer sitting next to you begins to unshackle you. He hands you your street clothes and orders you to get dressed. He appears to be rather put off by having to do so. You comply without hesitation, changing your prison scrubs for your street clothes.

While you are changing one of the other officers gets out and talks with a pilot. You aren’t sure what he’s saying and you are rather baffled by what is going on. You are pretty sure there’s no way you’re just being set free. What kind of legal system lets killers like you just go free?

The officer who was asking you all the questions grabs you gruffly by the arm and leads you to the plane. “You got lucky this time, Thor. Don’t let me hear of you doing anything like what you did again. Or else I’ll come after you personally and make sure you get what you deserve by my own hands. Better yet, don’t let me hear anything about you at all, ever again. Capisce?”

You nod your head and mutter “yes sir.”

“Good, now enjoy nawlins. Okay?” He says as he shoves you up the stairs into the small twin engine Cessna. In a matter of minutes the pilot finishes his pre-flight checklist and begins to taxi down the tiny runway.

You still can’t believe what happened but you now find yourself in the air being flown in a private jet to New Orleans- to freedom.

Of the wanted man.

It has been months since you committed that heinous crime. You’ve stayed hidden away as best as you can but you have finally been found. You have been handcuffed, thrown into the back of a police car and carted to the county jail.

You are finger printed, your mug shot is taken, and you are put in a cell. Not with much tougher looking men, but in your own cell barred off from other people. You knew this was inevitable but you just didn’t want to think about it before it happened.

You have been arrested for the murder of multiple people this past summer. There are extra guards around your cell, all armed with assault rifles. Your entourage draws the attention of other prisoners in the jail.

You could easily bust your way out of the joint but it is easier to just sit in your cell and accept your fate. You hear the whispers of your fellow inmates as they try to figure out who you are, what you’ve done, and why you need so many guards as such a small guy.

“That’s the kid who offed a small squad of police this summer. I heard he did it with only a hammer too.”

“Oh man, I heard about him! He’s supposed to have some sort of freaky powers. Kinda like Storm from the X-Men.”

You lay down and sleep as best as you can in the cold cell. Tossing and turning, you pass the hours until the state supplied lawyer shows up. You discuss the situation with him, explaining all that went on from your point of view; your lack of self control, how you felt like you were watching yourself kill all those people, unable to do anything about it.

It isn’t long before you’re brought into a room for questioning. You remain silent and let your lawyer do the talking. Your lawyer tries to bargain for a lesser charge but the DA is stuck in his way, confident that you will be found guilty for murder.

Your court date is set. December 22, 2012. Should the world survive Friday, you will be quickly sent to court to stand trial. You suppose the quickness of the start of the trial is due both to the small size of the town and the long time the police had to gather and analyze evidence.

You are given multiple chances to call any friends but you decline. You would rather them not find out that you are probably going to be put to death in the near future. For the next couple of days you will remain one of the most well behaved prisoners the jail has ever had as you await the trial.

My mother is refusing to feed me, and recently I was offered food, but only if I break up with my boyfriend. The only reason they hate him and are punishing me for it is because ‘He’s not a real boy’.

I’m terrified of my mother, my father isn’t backing me up at all, and I cannot strain my grandparents. Moving in with other family is also out of the question because of what happened in Michigan this summer.
